So now that spring has arrived and the weather is warming up, what better way to spend a Saturday or Sunday then to browse the local Farmer’s markets! I love the smell of fresh fruits and vegetables, the flower shops, the local bakery stands, and the friendly people who frequent these markets. Check out some of these amazing places and remember to bring those re-usable bags, and lots of them!
The Calgary Farmer’s Market has just opened at its NEW location! The market is open year round and it is located at 510 77th Avenue SE. I visited the market opening weekend and it was packed! It is wonderful to see that Calgarians are excited to support local vendors! Make sure you head to the market with an appetite as there is much to sample!
The Kingsland Farmer’s Market is a newer market in Calgary. Community Natural Foods has a booth set up where they not only sell healthy ingredients but also serve food from their delicious kitchen. Check this market out for a lot of local vendors. They are located at 7711 Macleod Trail.
The Crossroads Market is an indoor and outdoor market that sells everything from fresh fruits and vegetables, to natural meats, as well as antiques and crafts. I love spending sunny days strolling through this market, searching for BC blueberries and cherries, and Alberta grown green beans!
So, take some time this spring and summer and visit one of these markets. People are friendly and happy to take the time to talk to you about where your food has come from. And that is holistic living!
